What to Look for in a Heat Pump
Heat pumps are an efficient alternative to traditional forced air furnaces, combining the features of a heater and an air conditioning unit into one. They work best in climates with very mild winters, which is why you see a fair amount of heat pumps in Benson AZ and the surrounding communities. They offer some significant advantages, including low comparative costs in month energy bills. Here’s what to look for in a heat pump if you think it’s something that’s right for your home.
- High SEER ratings and HSFP ratings. SEER stands for Season Energy Efficiency Rating, which measures how well a heat pump cools the air in the summer. HSFP stands for Heating Seasonal Performance Factor, which charts the unit’ effectiveness at heating. The higher the ratings, the less energy it wastes. You can apply a shortcut by looking for heat pumps with the EnergyStar sticker, given to models that have particularly high SEER and HSFP ratings.
- Proper sizing. In terms of the energy they generate, heat pumps need to be sized right for the space. A pump that is too small won’t do the job, while one that is too large will cycle on and off repeatedly: wasting energy and increasing wear and tear on the unit. Look for a pump that I sized just right, a principle we like to call the Goldilocks Rule.
- Extra features. Many heat pumps come with features that help you save additional money, such as dual-mode motors that let you adjust the strength of the fan, and scroll compressors that help the heat pump run more quietly. You’ll need to decide which features are important to you and how much more you’d like to pay for them.

Great review for Goettl Plumbing.We had an blockage in our sewer line.Tyler Leija was dispatched the same day, and found the blockage using a camera tool.He cleared the blockage temporarily.The actual fix would require digging up and replacing the bad area of pipe.Paulo "Adrian" Dado and his crew came out the next day with backhoe, dug up the area, and replaced the section of pipe.The next day, after inspection, Adrian and his crew filled in the hole and then cleaned up the area.This is a brief description. There was A LOT of work involved.Very professional work.

We were hearing hammering between the walls. Tyler came out to my home to perform an evaluation. After doing several tests he quickly found the issue. We discussed several options. I ultimately opted to have the problem fixed to avoid damage to other appliances. He completed the work in a timely manner.
Peter helped a lot with explaining the root cause of our AC unit not functioning as well as it should be, and explaining why he recommended the fix/parts that he did. Took plenty of time to troubleshoot what was actually going on as opposed to just treating the symptoms, and explained in an easy-to-understand way what he found and how to fix it. He also gave good advice about simple DIY maintenance we can do moving forward to keep the system healthy! Our AC went down for the upstairs unit. We have a maintenance plan through another company but they do not provide 24/7 service. I called Goettl and I am so happy I did. 2.7.24Jay Cruz, technician, arrived on time today to service/check my ac/heating. Jay arrived timely and was friendly. Jay checked my inside unit, ceiling vents, etc and he made some recommendations. He was easy to talk to and very professional. He will be sending me an email with the recommendations and costs associated so that I can save the money to have these taken care of. I will say, no other technician has been as proficient as Jay.Yesterday, 2.6.24, I received a call from Betty. Betty was also very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. She listened to me and made recommendations and advice. By the end if the call, I felt like Betty was a friend.Thank you to Jay and Betty!Late one evening I was washing clothes. Daughter noticed water on floor under washer. I was so upset and worried about finding someone to fix the problem, whatever it was, and especially the cost. Goettl this the rescue! Namely, their employee/plumber, Chris! The next day, Chris came, found the clog in my pipes, and…voilà! We joined their $14.95 per month plan and that was all we paid for a job well done! Thank you!3.26.24Tyler Leija was great! He checked my drain pipe outside with a camera. Advised everything was clear. He checked my kitchen and master bathroom sinks and toilet. Tyler was friendly, but professional. Thank you.4.17.24Frank M arrived here on time. He was friendly and professional. He explained everything he was going to do today. He completed everything he mentioned. He provided suggestions of things that need or should be taken care of. Nothing urgent. He installed the water heater sensor in addition to other plumbing type things. He drained the water heater. He spoke to his supervisor, Terronne (sp?). Should received estimates for hvac and water heater. Thank you Frank! Great job!

Roy A. was a pleasure to work with. He thoroughly and expertly explained all of the issues with my system with pictures and videos. He was transparent about the remediation options available to me and patiently reviewed each option with me. The install team, Daniel and Roy, were equally as awesome. They too were extremely knowledgeable, patient with my questions, and worked diligently to get my new unit up and running safely in one day. I couldn’t have asked for a better team.

The water softener (which is outside) was ruined by the recent weather. Rudy and Chris were able to diagnose the problem and replaced the softener on same day. This was critical to avoid any plumbing problems in the house. We appreciate their professionalism and attention email to detail.
