Why Is My AC So Noisy?
Do you really need us to tell you that your AC in Las Vegas, NV really needs to work at peak performance levels? Probably not, considering how brutally hot it can be here in this part of the country. Unfortunately, there are a lot of homeowners out there that ignore signs of potentially serious trouble with their air conditioning systems. Why? Because they believe that the fact that their air conditioners are running means that they must be running properly.
This could not be further from the truth in reality, though. If your air conditioner is exhibiting any signs that it is in trouble, including strange, new, or louder than usual sounds, then you should contact a professional HVAC technician as soon as possible. The longer that you let any problem with your air conditioner go without resolution, the worse off your system is likely to be in the long run. We’ll get to the bottom of the situation.
Strange Air Conditioning Sounds to Be Aware Of
There are certain sounds that you may hear your air conditioner make that are completely normal. You may hear the compressor kick on depending upon where you are in the house in relation to the outdoor unit’s location, for instance. However, you, as the homeowner, have the best opportunity to detect sounds outside of the normal range coming from your system. You are around the system the most, and you need to alert us to any irregularities in order for us to assess them. Keep your ears open for any of the following sounds:
- Banging Sounds. Banging sounds may indicate that there is a loose part in your system, or that a component has broken off from the system entirely. Allowing any such objects to bounce around in your air conditioning system is only going to do further damage, so have the problem resolved as soon as possible.
- Buzzing Sounds. Is your outdoor unit buzzing? If so, it could again be the result of loose parts. It could also be copper lines rubbing against their surrounding, or unbalanced fan blades. We’ll let you know for certain what the cause of the problem is.
- Screeching. When your system starts to screech at you, you’d better listen to whatever it’s trying to say. A screeching air conditioner may require further lubrication, or it may need a new belt installed in place of a worn out one.
One of the best pieces of advice that we can give you is to suggest that you don’t wait for your air conditioner to break down entirely before calling for repairs. After all, when is the system most likely to break down but when you need it the most? Don’t get caught without cooling on a brutal summer day, just because you convinced yourself that that strange sound was “nothing to worry about.” Contact Goettl Air Conditioning Las Vegas at the first sign of trouble. We’ll get your system right back on track.
G-O-E-T-T-L it’ll keep you cool but it’s hard to spell.
