Odd AC Sounds: Should I Be Concerned?

Yes, absolutely. Don’t panic or anything, but strange sounds coming from your air conditioner could certainly indicate that there is a problem of some kind with your system. Banging, Screeching, Hissing, and Clicking

Among the most common sounds that give homeowners cause for alarm when it comes to their home cooling systems is banging. If you have a bent fan blade, it could be banging against the interior of your outdoor unit. You may also have a loose component in your system that is banging around. This puts not only that component, but those that it is banging against, at risk.

Screeching is another relatively common sound that homeowners may hear. This could be the result of components rubbing together if the moving parts in your system are not properly lubricated. It could also mean that there is a slipped belt in the system.

Do you hear a hissing sound when walking by your outdoor AC unit. Double check to make sure that there isn’t a snake in your vicinity, of course, but remember too that this could be the sound of refrigerant escaping from your system. Any refrigerant leaks must be repaired as soon as possible. You may also hear hissing in your home, which could indicate air leaks in your ductwork.

Finally, there is clicking. This can be tougher to hear over regular operational sounds, so be sure to keep your ears open. If you hear clicking coming from your system, there could be an electrical problem. You may have relay issues, or your capacitors may be about to fail.

Once again Goettl comes to my rescue!!! I had an appointment for a plumbing issue and Technician Andrew Stone showed up this morning to take a look at the flapper on the the toilet. We then started a conversation about the hot water heater. Andrew then took a look at the heater and noticed that it was starting to leak. I did not want a bandage job and ended up with a new heater and replacement of the entire system in my toilet. Camren came out to check the water heater and softener, because we had another company out to check them and they said everything needed to be replaced. He checked everything and found that the water heater was still under warranty, but is still working. The softener was unplugged and had the wrong salt in it. Instead of paying thousands of dollars to replace perfectly good units, he cleaned and serviced the softener! The price was reasonable and far less than the other company quoted.

We were having issues with our furnace not igniting and having the heat remain running. We contacted Goettl Air Conditioning and Plumbing for their service. Pablo, their technician, came to the house and ran several diagnostic tests to determine what was going on. He was persistent in finding out what was wrong and why the furnace would not stay running to give us heat. He made several trips to the house to continue to work on the furnace and solved the issue. Not only did he discover the gas valve was the problem, the new one installed was faulty as well. Goetll Air Conditioning has been exceptionally great to work with. Have been trying to speak to a Service Manager since Sunday the 26th of October, it is now October 29th called every day but no answer.
I was billed $270 for 50 minutes of a copper pipe repair, and over $600 for a close to 18 inch pipe with a fitting.
The repairman man was cordial,, it’s the company Goertl that is not a good customer friendly company. When I called to dispute the charge I was told that they are the most expensive company around. Shame. shame, also it’s a veterans owned company and they only gave a 5% discount to us because of my husband being a veteran.

Our dispute is on the cost of material, hence the hole where pipe need repair was pre prepped.
All main valves were shut off and pit was dried.

I have a tree rooting problem that impacts my main line. ANDREW my technician was very informative showed me the camera footage of the roots that was backing up my line. Jef came to our house to diagnose why our 22 year-old furnace wouldn't run correctly. He was very courteous and willing to answer my questions with as much detail as I wanted. I never felt like he was trying to sell me more than was needed to get the furnace running again. He explained, with pictures of our furnace's components, what he found when he inspected it. It simply needed a cleaning and routine service which fortunately was not a huge expense.
He explained, while he saw no immediate problems. what we might expect going forward, given the furnace's age and condition. After I asked about major component vs. whole-unit replacement, he provided a thorough explanation, and pricing, of options for us to consider.

I requested a plumbing drain inspection from Goettl. Service rep arrived introduced him self and went quickly to work. He was courteous and polite. He proceeded to inspect my plumbing and Drains. Shortly after he visited my hot water room he requested be to accompany him to observe there was a stream of water coming out of thr drain pan. He reviewed with me some of the items associated with my current installation that might be best updated and replaced. He gave me an estimate and we should. Hands and he proceeded to remove and replace my hot water heater. The job was completed and tested tan a timely manner and he left the area in a clean and organized manner. Michael did a great job for us today. Our sewage line was completely blocked by roots. He showed me with the camera and educated me on what was happening to our old iron cast line. He knew what he was doing, the what, the why is this happening. This is going to be a major project having to replace the entire line and he informed me on how this process works and the time and effort and safety it takes to replace a line. Goettl's website was easy to use and we got an appointment the very next day. Great job Michael. Will definitely use Goettl again.

We ordered a new refrigerator from Lowe’s. When they delivered it, they said they could not install the water line. We were not familiar with plumbers so we asked our neighbor who did the plumbing in his new shower. He said Goettl and he was very happy with the results. I called them they sent out a wonderful servicemen, Gerardo Gonzalez. The builders had used 3/8” pipes and Lowe’s seemed to only have 1/4” connectors. Gerardo solved our problem and we had to get Lowe’s out again the next day to finish the install. We highly recommend Goettl and appreciate the caliber of their staff!

This is how a service/install company should work. Price was exactly as quoted and was very fair, comparing to multiple others. They never tried to add on extras like all the others did. Installation day was when they said it would be. They scheduled the building permit, attended the inspection, and it was on time. Best for last, the system works perfectly and is super quiet Why can't more companies do business like this.

We have been Sadi club members for years. The service is excellent from the customer service representatives that answer the phone to the individual technicians that come out to your home. Two years ago we replaced our AC unit and went with a Goettl installation after years of having them maintain our older unit.
This past week our service technician was Andrew Morgan and he is such a friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled technician. He spent time making sure the job was done correctly and he explained it in terms that I could understand. Not only is our unit functioning even better than before, I also gained knowledge of how the system works.

We called on a Saturday and thankfully Christian Acosta was the one on call to help us out. He was knowledgeable, kind, super patient with our very curious child, and did absolutely everything in his power to get our AC back on. Unfortunately the blower motor was toast. He got us set up with a window unit for the time being and. Fast forward to today, Wednesday, and Christian and Ian came to install a new blower motor for us. Both gentleman were wonderful! They kept us informed of the process and what to expect as they replaced the parts. Our house is already cooling back down and I have Christian and Ian to thank for that! They did inform us of a military discount, which was very helpful, and they insured the entire process was as streamlined as it could be. If we ever need assistance in the future, I will be calling and asking for Christian and Ian because I know they will ensure that our HVAC system has been treated with the highest quality of service. They also brought our son an adorable plushie of Sadie, the Goettle mascot, and a flashlight. Its comforting to know that when Christian and Ian are on the job, you'll be taken care of as if they were working on their own homes.

Thank you Jerry for two plumbing jobs well done. Jerry cleaned out pipes from bathroom sink which were draining slowly. Jerry showed before and after pictures from his camera and what a big difference. Sink draining much better now.
Jerry also noticed our water pressure was low after flushing toilet then trying to wash hands in bathroom sink which were so he suggested a new pressure regulator as we have had a new better water conditioning system installed. We now have the best water pressure even when using a shower and kitchen sink faucet at the same time. Also Jerry is a master plumber and we appreciate his knowledge and experience. Will definitely call Goettl again when a plumber is needed.

We have had Goettl of Tucson service for about a year and thank goodness we had them to call when our AC failed and had a condensation leak in the attic . Goettl sent ROBERT out right away. Bobby Smith is great at explaining the options I have with my AC and Heater. He also let me know about the maintenance plan which is going to be great for me so I can always keep up to date with the AC and the heater. Also I didn't know that you did plumbing and he said I could get plumbing work done too so I am going to do that right away. I liked the photos that were taken to explain the situation on where I am at with the unit. All in all it was the best technician experience I have had since becoming a home owner in 2010. I would highly recommend Geottl and Bobby to anyone because of getting things right the first time, going out of his way to help, following up and keeping promises, and great product and technical knowledge. I'm not super informed on my home machines so it is comforting to be in good hands.
